The Venetian Macao, at 10.5 million square feet (980,000 square metres) is the largest single structure hotel building in Asia and seventh-largest building in the world by floor area, while Marina Bay Sands is among the world’s most expensive and complex buildings, costing over US$ 5.7 billion to build. In August 2013, Las Vegas Sands (LVS) selected MCI as a strategic partner for the implementation of a new performance management solution across the two properties.
Together, MCI and Las Vegas Sands identified ISO20121, an international standard designed by the International Organization for Standardization, as the framework to help continually improve sustainability and operational performance throughout the entire event management cycle. To achieve the standard, MCI designed and developed an innovative event management system and worked with LVS? global and regional teams to integrate the ISO approach into the comprehensive Sands ECO360° Meetings Program and their daily operations. MCI also worked with the LVS team to design training for over 15,000 staff and improve the resorts? monitoring and reporting system. In January 2014, after a remarkably short eight months, Marina Bay Sands became the first integrated resort in Southeast Asia to obtain the ISO20121 certification, with The Venetian Macau following suit in March 2014. ?This is a huge accomplishment for our company,? said Katarina Tesarova, Vice President of Global Sustainability at Las Vegas Sands. ?In record time MCI helped us to find practical and cost effective solutions to our operations and address the challenges we encountered during the ISO journey. MCI acted not only a consultant but as a true partner, ensuring that our Sands ECO360° Meetings program integrated ISO20121 consistently across facilities.? ?I am immensely proud of the role we have played in the ISO20121 certification of these industry-leading properties in Asia,? said Sebastien Tondeur, Chief Executive Officer of MCI. ?It is a testament to how responsible business practices can and need to evolve in rapidly developing economies and how, through a culture of innovation and collaborative engagement, MCI can continue to help our clients drive progressive growth and positive change all over the world.?
